Chicken Invaders is a game developed by an Indie Greek video game developer named Konstantinos Prouskas, who works with InterAction Studios. The game is the first part of the series, and the series has the same name as the first part. The publisher of the mobile version of the game is Betacom, and all other versions are released by InterAction studios. Chicken Invaders is available for many platforms, including macOS X, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Linux, Windows Phone, and Android; it was first released on July 24, 1999. Chicken Invaders is one of the longest-running video game series that was made in Greece.
The game has a very simple gameplay and plot; the game is based on the combat between a combat aircraft which is piloted by the user and a technologically advanced race of chickens who have the sole aim of subjugating and destroying Earth. The game uses a lot of humor from famous space-based series and movies, especially in the form of parodies of Star Wars, Galaxian, Star Trek, and Space Wars. The game features power-ups in the form of gift boxes, which can be used by the player to upgrade their spaceships and weapons. The chickens drop eggs, which are their projectile-based weapons, and the player has to avoid them and destroy the chickens. The game player must tactically move across the playing area to avoid getting hit by the chickens' eggs while trying o shoot them down.
- The aim of Chicken Invaders is to clean up the entire screen of enemies while not getting killed or destroyed. The game tries to keep a balance in the gameplay, and therefore the players are not only given the basic weapon in their ships, but they're also provided specialized weapons that can only be activated when the user collects the drumsticks left by the destroyed chickens.
